Hungary/Armenia - Viktor Orban, Prime Minister of Hungary, welcomes Nikol Pashinian, Prime Minister of Armenia, in Budapest, in the framework of the European Political Community Summit, November 7, 2024.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian on Thursday attended the fifth summit of the European Political Community that brought together dozens of leaders in the Hungarian capital of Budapest.

Before the opening ceremony, Pashinian, along with other high-ranking guests of the event, was welcomed by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

The Armenian prime minister’s press office said that Pashinian, in particular, participated in a round-table discussion titled “Economic Security” with the leaders of a number of countries, which was held in a closed format.

It said that Pashinian’s meetings with leaders from different countries were scheduled as part of the summit.

It is clear from the videos and photographs distributed by Pashinian’s press office that the Armenian leader had a brief conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron and also exchanged words with leaders of the European Union, the leaders of Turkey, Georgia, Ukraine and a number of other countries.

Azerbaijan is on the list of invitees, but President Ilham Aliyev is not participating in the European gathering this time.

The agenda for discussions at the Budapest summit includes European security challenges, including Russia’s war on Ukraine, and the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
