“Those who are out to fight against our state are dealing a blow to the value system which is at the heart of our statehood,” deputy parliament speaker Samvel Nikoyan tells “Hayots Ashkhar.” “They are targeting our four pillars: the army, the school, the family and the church. Of course, very unfortunate incidents take place in our army … Those vices have penetrated the army from the society. We know very well what repugnant practices exists in our schools, universities, streets and what kind of culture is propagated on television.”

“Chorrord Inknishkhanutyun” accuses the Armenian military of forcing one of the soldiers wounded in last week’s deadly shootout in Nagorno-Karabakh to falsely acknowledge murdering four other conscripts. “We have no doubts that the defense minister will do everything to cover up those really responsible for this bloodshed,” claims the paper. “He will do what his colleague, police chief Alik Sargsian, did when commenting on the death [in police custody] of Vahan Khalafian.”
