Writing that the campaign headquarters of the supporters of constitutional amendments have proposed an open text of a memorandum, “Ayb-Fe” predicts that the number of organizations signing the memorandum will grow in a geometrical progression. “But what can the parties signing the document really give? Nothing!” the paper answers its own question, expressing the opinion that the authorities do not really need anything, but simply this way are create a political screen – “See how many units are for the changes!”
“Hayots Ashkharh” thinks that one of the peculiarities of the “for” and “against” campaigns in the run up to the constitutional referendum is that new and previously little known political forces are being involved in the process every day. “The names of these parties are different, but it is absolutely impossible to distinguish between them,” the paper writes.
On the pages of the official organ of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation “Yerkir”, Armen Rustamian underscores: “We must do everything for the results of the referendum to be invulnerable. It is a very serious matter, and, after all, it is another chance for our people to use their right to immediate power to the fullest.”
“Aravot” observes that the opinion of the Council of Europe is being ignored in Armenia both by the authorities and the opposition. “On the one hand, the Armenian authorities did not consider certain recommendations of the Venice Commission, on the other hand Armenia’s opposition does not take into account the expectations of the Council of Europe either,” the paper writes.
“Not agreeing with the observations of international observers during the 2003 presidential elections, Serzh Sarkisian said that they don’t understand our mentality, now we can state that not our mentality has changed, but the European evaluation criteria have lowered to the mentality the minister was talking about,” “Ayb-Fe” underlines. “The evaluation of the observation mission in the local elections is more than just an evaluation of observers. Thereby civilized Europe has given a ‘green light’ to the adoption of constitutional amendments in the upcoming referendum through similar riggings, violations and intimidations.”
Considering the experience of the latest local elections, “Chorrord Ishkhanutyun” predicts that the local elections due on Sunday will pass according to similar scenarios. “Candidates using brutal strength and rigging technologies will triumph in these elections as well,” the paper concludes.
